Official band bio: Together in various setups since 1999, Eastern Oregon-based father-daughter duo Matt and Anna Snook head the 'acoustic Americana' group on vocals, fiddle, mandolin, banjo, and dobro. Sharon Porter, longtime friend and band member, holds down the bass end of the spectrum; and newest member, Patrick Gunning, rounds out the band's sound with guitar. Emphasizing both vocals and instrumentation, the group lists Nickel Creek, Crooked Still, Tim O'Brien and David Grisman as major influences in their song choice, sound, and overall appearance. Currently finishing up their first CD (due to be released at any time in the near future), Northwest Bluegrass, Snooksband hopes to begin a new chapter of their career.

| Matt Snook (full autobiograpy here) has been playing the banjo since he was fifteen years old. Now, several years later, he performs with not only the Snook band on banjo and dobro, but also with his local band, Summit Ridge, and with Grande Rondolin, La Grande's first-ever mandolin orchestra (on mandocello). |

Anna Snook, 19, has been playing music more than half her life - both prodded and inspired to play by her parents. She doesn't rest long at any one musical nest, claiming to currently be roosting in the 'acoustic americana latin jazzgrass' tree... |

Patrick Gunning, 21, of Monroe (Seattle area) WA is a multi-instrumentalist with random and inarticulable taste in music. Playing guitar, mandolin, violin, and whatever else he happens to lay his hands on, Gunning looks to take acoustic music in new directions and avoid the determined pursuit of the bluegrass police... "Patrick is the most versatile and under-rated top-notch musician in the Northwest. Forget Pupville, we've got Patrick." -Anna Snook |

| Sharon Porter is our favorite librarian. She's been on bass (ha ha) with the Snooksband since the demise of the actual family band in 2000-something. Originally a jazz singer from Ohio, Sharon now lives in La Grande with her husband Matt Cooper, a pianist and music professor at Eastern Oregon University. She is also a founding member of the bluegrass band, Summit Ridge. |
